Bengal School of Art

Bengal School of Art

The Bengal School of painting was a style and approach of art which flourished in India during the British Raj in the early part of the 20th century. The art was associated to Indian nationalism, at the same time; it was supported and promoted by British arts administrators as well. Just like the richness of the culture of Bengal, Bengal school of painting is affluent and vibrant. The colours and graceful beauty of this painting school are splashed in the piece of writing that follows
Abanindranath Tagore and Havell were played one of the major rolls in Bengal school of art. They believed that the former’s style is an expression of distinct spiritual qualities of India, as contrasting to the materialism of the Western countries
The work of Bengal school of art is really impressive. I feel that the essence of Ajanta is clearly noticeable in Bengal school paintings. The paintings are simple and standard. Some of them are mysterious who really push us to think deeply. Figures were refined and elegant without any hardness. Attractive colour scheme technique has been used with less bright colours to bring synchronization. The paintings have an impact of Mughal and Rajasthani style of art. Most of art works are literal but some of them has touch of modernism. Attempts of abstract painting are really nice. The paintings exhibited dexterously exposed light and shade with no hardness. It fees so nice while observing each and every painting by different angles and different perspective. Many of paintings are elegant and lively. Its grace and glamour has given new heights to the Indian painting.

Final Installation- A Huge Paper Bag

When we think about a paper bag first thing comes in our mind is small shopping bag. Even we are a big shopaholic how much we can shop at a time! So that we made a huge paper bag in which people can go inside and sit for a while. We never thought about going inside a bag! We wanted to know how people feel!
And how we humans are converting the nature into the trash…

Do Ho Suh is the installation artist. He constructs site specific installations that question the boundaries of identity. His work tends to express the relation between individuality, collectivity and anonymity. Migration, both spatial and psychological, has been one of Suh's themes, manifested through biographical narrative and emotionally inflected architecture.
When I was looking for installation artists, I was thinking whom do I pick. I was researching for their works, I found Do Ho Suh,  his amazing works and beautiful colours he used attached me a lot.

Artistic Process--

Artistic Process

According to me artistic process is putting our ideas together consciously or unconsciously. It leads to greater self-understanding. When we observe something we try seeing by our own perspective and sometimes we find out that interesting we immediately got connect with that but sometimes doesn’t.
In this process every single term has its own meaning. As we saw in the movies the background, the music, the colour schemes, and the places which includes practically everything had a meaning. While producing any movie clip the producer thought about each and every single thing which includes in that shot. Many times adding such thing really gives us that feel what we looking for. Eg. In sad seen it always has sad music, dull and boring background to get that impact of that seen.
Usually as a normal person we never bother to look at other than main characters like hero, heroin, and villains. But to get the feel of their seen producer always think about backgrounds and all and that’s the artistic process. When silent, sad music starts we automatically got that something going to be sad.
Artistic process may vary from person to person. Many a times it happens that even if I start with or without any concept the results are unexpected. Sometimes it was accidental or willingly done. That’s why many a time’s drawings are much more expressive than final. Experimentation is the most necessary thing or artistic process.

What we make out of anything is artistic process. So that it can be or can’t be sure shot thing.

This is my artistic process. I started with drawing of pen cap and okra. Then I went on redefining and developing them and finally I got a pattern which was unexpected for me.
